1991 V8 in fail safe mode- HELP!

Default 1991 V8 in fail safe mode- HELP!

i have a wondeful 1991 V8 automatic- 116K love the car- my wife was driving home- said all the lights on the gear selector on the dash were blinking- i took it for a ride and it was like i was dragging something behind me- i looked in the manual- fail safe mode- why and how do i fix it-

all help is really really apprectiated!!

check tranny fluid and disconnect the baterry

When that happened to me I immediately shut off the car, let it sit for 30 secs, restarted and it was ok. You may have to disconnect the battery or take it to a shop and download the codes. There is a way to look at the codes and you can go to Audi Forum or SJM Autotechnik for advice on how to do that.

I have the same problem with mine. I am taking it to the shop on wednesday to get it coded and a tranny flush. I update u on that
