Default safe mode +have code+ still won't come out of safe mode

Ok, so I purchased this 1998 Audi A-6 and the sterio is in safe mode. I have the code and follow the procedure to reset this by pushing the two buttons to activate the code reset. But, Still the sterio will not get out of safe mode. What could be the problem?

first off- you only have two chances to try the first time. after that, you have to leave the key in the ignition lock with radio on for an hour. after the SAFE display goes out after the hour, enter code. don't remove or turn key in ignition lock until after you have entered your code. if after you enter code and SAFE flashes, the code is not correct. i just went through this about two weeks ago. i finally pulled my radio out and saw that it was a replacemnt radio because the serial number was different than the one in my book. luckily the code was written on top of the radio. most times this will be the case. hope this helps.

I am dealing with this same problem in my S4. So my question is how to obtain the code i haven't found it in my manual? This sucks it totally kills my driving experience.

remove the radio and right down the serial number . take it to Audi along with your ownership. Also check your options sticker in the trunk to see if a mechwrote it down their .

I had the same problem with my A6. I finally got frustrated and took it to the dealer and they told me that the stereo was junk.

According to them it happens about 1 in every 100 that they do. Just will not take a code after it loses power.

My dealer only charged me $40 for a new one, and its only about 5 minutes to replace if you have the little release keys.

Good Luck!

Mm

Same thing happened to me a year ago. I had to disconnect the battery and mine was locked in where you entered the pass code. They dealship even looked it up and tried to enter the code. I just ended up buying a new one.
