In suburban driving, I'm getting 14 mpg with my 4.2, but if I pay attention, I can get it up to 15.5 mpg. You can save a little money by mixing half a tank of 93 ocatane with half of 87. I use a speedpass, so it doesn't take much extra time.

Yes, it's not good! Urban for me average 15mpg, 70mph cruise 25mpg, average 17mpg.

I am considering converting to Autogas (LPG). I guess as your original post reffered to gas you are in the US, this means petrol in the UK. I converted my Lexus and it was very successful.

2002 2.7T been getting 19.5 to 20 around town, not bad especially when getting into it alot and stop and go...hoping for 24 on the highway, 6-speed manual is key...Couldn't afford 14 with the 4.2L and super at $2.30 a gallon.

How does the car perform with half 93/89? Here in Colorado, it would be 91/87, any thoughts?

Thanks!

The mix is 93/87, usually a bit more of the 93 than the 87. Seems to work fine, but, like all ARs, the car suffers from the notorious throttle delay.

I think if you buy a car like this you have to expect it to drink a lot of petrol. Still, its worth it when you come up next to a subaru impreza at a red light.

Surely the 87 octane burns quicker and therefore gives you less mileage per tank? I use 98 octane and probably get 10% more miles than if used regular unleaded. Also using lower octane fuels can have a bad effect on your catalytic converter (i.e. melt it)
