Default Soon to be Audi, Current MB guy....

Hey all, I've been on the mercedes forums for a few years as thats what I own. I must say that these forums are great and no matter what you own you can find information at your finger tips that you would pay $ for 10 years ago. I joined this forum due to the fact that I will be looking for an A4 within the next month or two. I'm a diehard MB guy and plan on keeping a MB around always, I currently have a ford explorer that I use in the winter driving around here in NH. The problem with this is that its and explorer...need I say more. The current 4wheel drive MBs are still way too much $ for me to buy as a winter car so hoping to get into something with german engineering I am looking to audi to fit the bill. I must say that I have always like audis and I hope to get as much out of one as I do an MB. My current goal is to find an A4 in the price range of $6K TO $8k. I don't expect a mint auto at this price and more like a nice upgrade to my winter driven explorer....shouldn't be hard to do. What I don't know is anything about A4's in terms of year models, issues, 1.8T vs 2.8, etc....I am going to search the A4 forum in hopes of learning alot before purchase. Any tips and insight from you guys would be great!

Here is a little info on my current ride. It has a special place in my heart so I will continue to build up this specific MB for years to come, it's ten years old but does everything I ask of it with a grin. The mini beast.

98' MB C43 AMG
4.3L alum. V8 hand assembled with very interesting features like twin plugs, variable intake runners, hot cams, beefed internals, etc...
Custom 3in mandrel bent stainless exhaust with 200cel stainless race cats, headers to come.
Magnesun MP90 positive discplacement supercharger
Renntech 18"x8.5/9.5 forged monolites
H&R/Bilstein suspension setup
Custom interior trim with a little CF and IAT / boost / F.pressure gauges
...and a bunch of other irrevelant small things.
Soon to come, kleemann LSD, headers, port/polish heads, meth/H20 inj., ported intake mani, and +1lb boost.

Last year it was dynoed with the S/C as the only mod and it made 342hp 378tq at the wheels with 4.5lbs boost. The car was and still runs rich so I hope that with milling the S/C pully down for more boost the car will lean out a bit and give me an opptimized A/F. Anyways enough rambling from the other side, her she is and I hope that I can start posting about an Audi pretty soon.

Anyone see the Audi part here? I do have one Audi part that I had to use due to the OEM part not fitting in there....

This dyno is old and I can't blow it up. It shows only 4lbs of boost at the time. For some reason my car makes around 4.5ish now, maybe due to cooler weather? Also, it shows 360 wheel HP but through correction it is actually 342ish. I probably makes a tiny bit more now due to the exhaust and other mods. The torque curve is similar to a tow truck.

Hope this entertained yall'!

Wow thats a sweet ride. Search the A4 section for 1.8T vs 2.8 discussions. Personally I think a 99+ 2.8 is a great winter daily driver. Its not fast, only 190hp stock,, but it can more than keep up, plus its very reliable and handles great in ALL weather conditions. Welcome to the forum.
