Default A6 Tire fitment

Hoping someone out there knows if a 245/45/18 will fit on my 2004 A6 S-line? Factory was 235/45/17 and i currently run a 235/35/19 both of which are about 25.3"-25.4" overall diameter. Will the extra inch of the 245/45/18 rub? Found a good deal on some used snow tires/rims and dont want to schlep an hour+ away only to slap em on, take one turn and hear that awful sound.....[:'(]

thanks in advance

An inch is a lot when you are making sharp turns or your vehicle fully laden. I wouldn't go for that. 35/R19 is still ok, but 45/R18 is not.

That was muy gut feeling too, i was just searching to see if it had been done. Sux b/c this guy has 235/45/18 snows w/ <2k miles on them and equally new RS4 replicas that would look pretty sweet for a winter set upand only set me back 6 bills. If anyone else out there has done it successfully please let me know.

235/45/18 will fit fine if the rim offset is correct. ET38 thru ET45 offset should work fine. I have 235/45/18 ET45 on mine with no clearance problems. Check with the seller to find out what the offset is.

4% is absolutely correct. When the speedo reads 65 it's really going 67.62 mph. But it looks much faster

I usethe handy tire size calculator in the attached link. It will compare the original size with the new tire dimensions and even tell you what the speedometer error will be.
