Default Kinda OT: Tire fitment

Well as some of you know I got new 18 wheels for my A4. They are 18x7.5. The tires that are on there right now are 235/40 sized. In the back they don't fit that great. On the left rear the tire is actually rubbing a bit. I can see where the upper control arm has worn on the tire. Anyway, I would like to keep as smooth as of a ride as I possibly can so I don't want to go with a lower walled tire. Would a 225/40 tire fit on my wheels? I think that not being quite as wide will make it clear enough... maybe?

I dont see why you have a problem with that setup I run 235/45/17 and I have no problems I dont think 18;s are too much bigger. I would check your alignment maybe your camber is off thats why you are rubbing and if you have uneven tire wear you should definately get an alignment, or a wheel balance.

Your wheel size sounds damn near perfect. your sig say you are waiting on H&R springs - are these now installed? sounds like somthing else is wrong? Please tell me you already got your wheels aligned (or at least got it checked) when you put on your new rims.

Great this is probably going to turn into a thread where I feel really stupid afterwords...[:@]

No I didn't get my alignment checked after I put my hew wheels on. I will of course get one after I install my shocks/springs. I wasn't aware you are supposed to get an alignment after putting new wheels on. I didn't with my last car...

You don't have to get your alignment done if you put new wheels on - I just do it since its new rubber and i want it flat on the ground. Sorry I can't help you any with your problem.
