Default Rear door speakers in A3 Sportback Ambition

After being not very satisfied about the audio quality I just checked the backdoors of my A3 sportback for possibilities to add some rear speakers. I was verry suprised to find out that my rear doors allready contain speakers [sm=insomnia.gif] which are not connected to my Radio. The pins for the backdoor speakers are missing in the radio plug (just 4 wires for my front speakers) [:@]. Does someone know if the backdoor speakers are wired ? If so, where are they cut off ? Are the build in speakers decent speakers, or just dummies ? Does someone have experiance with removing the door covers, in order to get access to them ?

Default RE: Rear door speakers in A3 Sportback Ambition

Had same problem, rear speakers are ok, they are amplified which is why they are not working, I downloaded a wiring diagram fron the net which showed that the wires on the original audi plug are in a different place to the ones on aftermarket stereos. try putting in audi concert wiring diagram for a search, if you stii having trouble then email me and i will find the page and forward it to you. no need to start ripping off the door pannels just yet. good luck!

Thanks !
I found this: http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/63403.phtml

what I understand is that the front speakers are wired directly to the
in your radio, and that the rear speakers should be connected to a line-out
connector on my radio ? Where is the amplifier for the rear speakers mounted ?

Thanks for your help
