Default 96 A4 Problems **HELP!!**

I just purchases a 1996 A4 and on the way home found a few problems. 1) Some of the lights behind the Tach and Speedo are out and need to be replaced. How? 2) The oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. Is this easy to do yourself? 3) When I turn on the radio and turn the volume **** down it turns the volume up and then cant be turned down until I turn the radio off and then back on. 4) The front passenger ball joint has gone out. Can you purchase just the ball joint or do you have to buy the enitre unit and if so where? Can this be done yourself easily? 5) What is the easiest way to remove the rear emblems? I heard to use fishing wire?? Any one that could help me with any of these I would really appreciate it. Also if anyone has any of the parts I need please let me know how much to purchase. THANKS

1. The bulbs are pretty easy to replace. Pull off the trim below the instrument cluster. Underneath is two philips screws. Remove them. Wiggle the instrument cluster out several inches. Reach behind and disconnect the 3 or 4 wire connectors. You will need to pick up the light bulbs from the dealer, as they are pretty special lights.

2. Yes you can replace an o2 sensor yourself. Which one is bad, you know there are 4 of them? You will need a O2 sensor removal tool (available at autozone), a universl joint, and a long socket extender.

3. The radio sounds screwy. You might want to check out ebay or car-part.com and look for a new one. They go pretty cheap.

4. You can remove the rear badges with fishing line and a blow dryer/heat gun. Just warm it up and wiggle a piece of line behind the emblem. Clean up the paint with goo gone and give it a waxing.

you skipped the ball joint jest....if you're talking about your tierod end, you can replace those yourself fairly easily....they're 70 bucks a pair at ecstuning.com. you can also get the heavy-duty ones for 105 bucks, i would recommend spending the extra 35 bucks...and you should def replace both at the same time, unless the other has already been replaced
