Default FS 2006 A3 Sport - $17.9k

I thought this a good deal for a fully loaded car with reasonable miles.

Hmmmm, wonder what the reserve price is. Ultimately, that' what the deal is.

Out of curiousity, I did a search of completed A3 auctions withing 2000 miles of here and the result was surprisingly low (25 A3s compared with over 500 A4s). Only a couple were sold ($25-$35k, both 2007s)
I'm not sure what you can tell from this. Maybe reserve prices set by sellers are higher than prospective buyers' demand? Is the A3 too niche market? Bad time of year to sell a car? Who knows? I'm watching this auction to see how it plays out.

I'm curious, how you can have Sport package without the S-line front. Either way, it looks like a good deal can be had on a good car.

The 2006 sport version didn't have the S-line badges. My car is an example of that.

I posted the cars because it seemed much cheaper than I'd let my car go for at the moment. Another reason to possibly hold on to my ride? Of course, it is Ebay after all, which can be sketchyto purchase cars, especially the cheapest ones listed. You're never exactly sure what you'll get.

Cheers!

well chef you need to charge the chef owned premium which by my calculations is at least $4000 if anyone ever asks you why you are asking so much be like..."dont you know I am chef b*tch?!"

seriously though if you do decide to turn from the light then you will be missed. you were a major help to me when I was trying to decide and I hope you see fit to drop by the forums every once and a while.

Chef, you are correct to be suspicious of these 'ebuy' autos. I am highly suspicious of the second listing. It is listed as the premium package but has the base wheels.
It does have the driver's power seat option and that homelink thing. (Which half the time needs to be resynched with my dang garage opener)Was that an optioned offered for 2006 models? I wish I had known that - the five spokes would be easier to clean.

I just sold my 1991 F-150 last weekend. I never considered selling it on Ebay because there are better ways, namely Autotrader.com and Craigslist. I went using the latter because it's free and it is more localized.

An auction might sound like a good idea for buyers and sellers, but not if the car is across the country. No one wants will buy a vehicle based on a150x150 pixel image, or without being able to testdrive it.

That being said, I've known people who have purchased throughEbay and they were very satisfied. They just happened to be able to locatewhat they wanted near enough to make an adequate inspection.

Chef, I would not take those prices or even the lack of sale as any indicationof the price you can get when (if)you decide to sell the A3. Even though the current price shows below 20k, the reserve price set by the buyer (and kept hidden during the auction) really determines the fair and ultimate price it will be sold at.

IMOnot knowing the reserve price is a turnoff. If I were buying a vehicle, I'd want a clue as to how much the sell will take for the vehicle.

When I sold the truck, we negotiated the price a little less than what I initially asked. Sure, I set the price to give me room to lower it, but everyone knows that this is happening, and everyone was happy after the deal. I don't think that auctions allow for that kind of dialog to take place.
