Default HD Radio

I spend a lot of time driving, about 2-3 hours a day. I have the RNS-E system installed with XM from the factory. I'd love to get some high quality sound in the car, but I really don't want to pay the $13 a month for the XM. I keep on hearing about this HD radio and was wondering if anyone ever heard of a unit that I can replace my XM module with. I'm looking for an integrated solution, aka it can be controlled through steering wheel, etc, with no external control units. Any suggestions are welcomed.

yeah thats a good question!! i wish there was some way to hook up an hd reciever to the rns-e....Anyonehave any ideas?? i too have the xm reciever, i would only buy serius if i subscribed to satellite radio, which i hear the two are merging?? (anyone hear any details on that??) but i really dont want to pay the 400 bucks for the serius reciever not to mention the "tinny" sound you get from any of the sat radios...

One solution you might consider would be the Ipod adapter for your commute. Not sure if the ipod adapter works for RNS-e yet or not, sounds like you may have to unhook the cd changer to get that to work??

The merger is still up in the air. The FCC and govt are dragging their feet. I think it just broke a record for longest length of time ever for an antitrust review. To show where our govt is at...it took Exxon and Mobil less time to seek approval for their merger. Apparently, the dangers of satellite companies merging is far, far greater than oil companies merging.

BTW...I have Sirius and luv it.

You could replace the factory radio with a JVC KD-HDR1. It is an HD radio that has the ability to add Ipod and Sat radio to it. As far as integration to factory controls, i think PAC makes an adaptor.
