I'm highly disappointed with the performance of the A4 as far as speed goes. I just traded in my 2004 Saab 9-3 2.0T for a 2008 A4 2.0T Quattro and it's not even close. These engines are highly comparable but for some reason, the Saab engine is so much smoother and more powerful. Maybe it's the transmission too. Absolutely no turbo lag what so ever with the Saab. I'm sure I'll enjoy the winters a little more in the A4 and the interior is also much nicer but it doesn't hold a candle to the Saab for performance.
