hey guys, havent been here in a long time!!! used to have a 01 b5 and now im lookin ot get another.. anyway my question is
ive been lookin for a detailed explaination about how the wastegates and boost control work in the 2.7
i was under the impression that the waste gate allows some exhaust to pass through the turbo to spool it but according to the picture of the set up the entire manifold passes through the turbine, so what regulates the boost?
i know it boost to about 12 lbs, but when doing chip mods it can increase, does that mean that the wastegate is electronic? ( stupid question ) more importanly what is the chip doing to acheive more boost? is it changing the regulation so the turbo spools higher? and if thats the case does that mean its only at the top end of the rpm range?
can you achieve more boost throughout the entire rpm range? is that possibe?
clearing this up for me would really mean alot cause this has always been a bit of a gray area...
