Default Off noise around 3500 RPM's

I hope everyone can help me out I have this funny noise that is noticeable at about 3500 rpm's.

After a lot of time of driving with no radio and listening close to the motor I noticed that was the point when the noise would come on.
It will come on from about 3300-3700 rpms.
It will happen onsmooth city driving & highway.
It makes the noise on demand at that RPM on highway driving Ill give it gas and hold it there and it holds the noise [&:]

The noise seems similar to a squeaky door hinge [>:](? hope that helps)
I personally think that its something internal either in the block/head.

On equestion I have for all... does anyone else ever notice this noise around the same rpm's?

Can you hear it when in Neutral under the hood and rev the engine to 3500?

It might just be tire noise.

I can hear it while in neutral also.
Its not as pronounce but I hear the noise when revs are right.

Ialso thought thatit could have been tire noise but I ruled that out. The noise is very specific to the RPM's.

I have a strong feeling that it could be the head.
I had the head rebuilt about 3000 miles ago.
All new valves, seats, and cam followers.

What do you all think would make that type of noise in the engine/head?

Sounds like a sympathetic vibration. Get a friend to hold the throttle while you look/hear in the engine bay. get it up on stands if you can. look everywhere.

I was just talking with a friend.
He said that at a certain point the exhaust will have something like a harmonic vibration.
It could be that with my car its at 3500.
If thats true then it would be common amongst other TT's.

I dont have any real modsall stockbut I do have the VTDA with the cover off?
I think next day off Ill be lifting the car and trying what you (^) said.

One more thing today on the highway I realized that the noise is more noticeable durring light load.

If I'm holding the throttle in the right position the noise is louder than when I have the cruise control on to sustain the RPM's.

The boost gauge is at 15hg in vacuumwhile on cruise control, if Im holding the throttle the gauge is very close to 0-1psi when I hear the noise.
