Default some pratt disconnected the siren !!

Hi to all you out there, just wondering if anyone can tell me where the siren for the factory fitted alarm is located under the bonnet, the complete idiot that owned it disconnected it as they couldnt be bothered to buy a new remote from audi. The lights flash but no sound. I know these alarms aint that great, but it has got to be better than nothing at the mo. thanx

as far as i know, all audi's are like that..
there are only winkers flashes (2 for close, 1 for open).

no sound at all.. that's how it comes from the factory (both on a3 I test drove and my dad's A6)

It may not be a wiring problem. You can turn these off using a VAG-COM interface. It may be as simple as taking your car to the dealer or someone in your area who has this interface and changes the settings. It takes about 5 minutes. I have one but I'm in the South Bay in the Los Angeles area. Where are you located?

yeah, flashes on open and closing, but if someone sets the alarm off there is no noise only flashing lights, which tbh aint gonna attract much attention.

What year? My 2006 A3 blinked the lights and made a very loud BEEEEEP when you locked it. It made this noise no matter how you locked it and I found the beep to be annoying, gets too much attention, and isn't very nice when I locked my car at 3am right next to the neighbors house so I disabled it with a VAG-COM tool. Maybe thats what the previous owner did your A3 as well, if so you can find out if someone hooks a VAG-COM up to it and checks, it can also be reenabled with a VAG-COM.

ok i spoke to my mate at audi and apparently the wiring or something to the siren can burn out causing it to fail. i'll have a look at mine on sunday to check. hope this helps.
