Default Checking Transmission Fluid

How/where do I check the transmission fluid level on my A4? I have a 2001 A4 1.8T with tiptronic 5-speed auto. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

leave it the hell alone... if you mess with it and dump the fluid, it takes 14 quarts at 40$ a piece... 560$ tranny fluid fill, it is never supposed to be opened... it is sealed. let it be.

The unit is sealed and there is no dipstick.

To check the level, there is a fill hole on the bottom. Basically, with the car perfectly level and the tranny fluid at approximately 42 degrees C, you pump in fluid until it drips out the hole which gives the correct level.

And off the top of my head, the dry fill is about 9.5 quarts and to drain and fill the pan is about 2.7 quarts. The fluid is about 15 to 18 dollars a quart.

My question comes because I have a leak, looks like from around the rear pinion seal. I'm having it looked at on Tuesday, just wanted to find out if I have a fluid-level problem now, and if I shouldn't drive till I take it in. It's been leaking for about 3 or 4 weeks. Not a large mess yet, but a little leaking oil/fluid goes a long way, and gets on everything as the drive shaft spins. Thanks for the response.

i had a leak before, it was low and my trans slipped alot....so if ur car drives fine then ur fine to drive it ...........have them replace the fluid in there it will shift much better. audi says its liftime but thats B.S.
just dont take it to the stealership to have this done....they will rip u off. find a good local euro mechanic.

Not slipping yet, just leaking. Nice pics, by the way. Like the grill.
