Default traction control lights on alot

I have a 99 A4 1.8T manual quattro. I noticed a couple of months ago my traction control lights flashing after a quick launch from a light. Normal right? No problem. It was happening more and more frequently than ever before, but I figured it was because my tires were almost bald. I got new tires and since then the traction control light flashes more and more until now, almost EVERY time I take off from a stop quickly or slowly it comes on. The light always just comes on, flashes beeps then turns off, but could it be indicating something besides traction control? It ONLY does it when I am taking off from a stop. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the clutch is slipping and tricking the computer into thinking that the wheels are.. but that doesn't make alot of sense either. ANY IDEAS?? Thanks in advance!
