2000 A6 Keep blowing the fuse for windows, dome lights and sunroof. What's wrong???
I keep popping the fuse for the windows, dome lights, sunroof, and locking unit for the doors. Has anyone run in to a problem like this? I don't want to start pulling the car apart looking for a loose wire if it is something simple.
Any help is appreciated.

No, I don't have a manual.
The fuse number is 14. I have a 2000 Quattro if that helps at all.
With the #14 fuse blown, these parts don't work:
Interior lights (dome and reading lights)
Lock button (unlock works fine)
Windows
Sunroof

Basic troubleshooting of current leakage: (Like a short that will blow the fuse.)
1. Run a test light across the fuse. With all items powered from the fuse turned off, the light should NOT light.
2. If it doesn't light, the fuse should not blow... until you turn something on. Figure out which system blows the fuse and then troubleshoot that system.
3. If the test light lights up in step one, disconnect the systems powered by the fuse, one by one, until the lights goes out. Then troubleshoot that system.

Notes:
A. Our Audi's have are systems that normally draw power even when off. (Radio preset memory and the like.) Hopefully you'll be able to tell these small draws from a short by the brightness of the light. You may need to get a good meter and use the ohm (resistance) function, just remove power first!
b. Manuals, even ones with poor diagrams, are a BIG help.

I am having the same issue. I did find that when I put pressure on the upper portion of the driver's seat, the fuse blows. No Domes, windows, etc.
I will continue to buy fuses until I figure it out. Just started happening 2 weeks ago.
I also have an open passenger door indication when the doors are all closed. The micro switch in the latch is stuck. No tome yet to rip the door apart.

I have the same problem, would appreciate any suggestions.
Sunroof, windows, interior lights donot work and the locks think they are unlocked so keep trying to lock on the move.
Changed fuse 16 once, all started to work. Now blown again. It is a 54 reg a6.

@thinker, I have been chasing this problem for so long and I finally found it. It was a few things on my 2000 B5 A4, firstly I had removed my old door cards which were green and replaced them with black ones from an older a4 which didn't have the courtesy light in the edge, so I had left them unplugged. The plug had gotten wet so as I didn't need them I just cut them off, insulated them and cable tied them out of the way.
Replaced Fuse 14 and it seemed to be okay for a day. Then it blew again so back to the drawing board.
I had changed my headliner in my A4 and the previous headliner had the slot for the visor lighting and the new one didn't, what had happened was, on refitting of the visor, I had trapped the wiring for these lights and when I looked at them, they had frayed and looked to have melted slightly. I cut the plug off and taped these up and so far had no problems. This forum has been a god send and I'm just putting my 2 cents back in, in hope that someone who has this problem has tried all of the above.
