replace brake light bulb on 2005 A6
hello
I've tried searching, but all guides seem to be for the older model A6. It does NOT have the simple plastic cluster that you squeeze to remove!
can anyone please give me instructions on how to get at this. I feel so stupid having to take it to audi just to replace a bulb.
I've attached the only picture I have to hand to help identify the correct model (unfortunately not showing the back).
Having accessed the side panel in the boot (trunk), it looks like I'm faced with a bulkhead rather than anything that looks like access to the light cluster.
thanks in advance
Bob

can you take a pic of the light housing's rear side (from the trunk)?
If nobody knows, maybe we can figure it out.
On some other cars the light housing units have some round, big plastic fasteners (they look like a gear wheel). Maybe the new Audis have a similar fastening system.

thanks everyone. I managed to work it out (rather nerve wracking though!).
For the sake of others who might want to do this in the future, here's how it's done
For the sake of others who might want to do this in the future, here's how it's done
- In the boot, remove the side access panel
- Just inside the reveal, facing the back of the car is a circular plastic cap. Remove it.
- This reveals a screw which can be removed with a suitable size socket. I think about M14, but I got away with a .5".
- The entire light cluster will now come off, but it needs some force as there are push fittings that I don't know the name of. Anyway, the force is directly from front to back of your car. I had to carefully use a flat-bladed screwdriver to apply force from the front of the light cluster as I couldn't get a decent purchase anywhere else.
- Once that's out, undo the clips that connect the white plastic housing to the red plastic outer and the bulbs are revealed.
- replace the bulb and do the above in reverse to reassemble.
