RE: rubbing noise whren turning wheel
I think the control arms and bearings? that's what someone told me.
I have a '95 A6 with 130k miles, no griding noise though.
As for the spark plugs, don't they use platinum ones? Those last quite a while.

This is a classic problem with all Audi font ends.
It's more than likely your control arms, bushings, tie rods, or any combination thereof. Very typical problem with Audis unfortunately.

Hello sweets...
I have same problem. Its when u are stationary and u take off with steering fully on one side. U get vibration noises and kind of chatter??? well, I had a meeting today with top technical man in Audi Australia.
Firstlt I had 215/65 tyres at fr
ont and 205/55 at the back.
Also it all to do with Torsen. Torque sensor. 97/98/99 quattro is having these kind of problems and there is nothing u can do about that.
They call it a feature of quattro.
Another thing... I put new set of tyres and old man told me to drive as hard as I can so software can learn new data again that is being sent from the toren on to the wheels.
But there is something...
Since Audi knew about this "feature" they came up with this additive that is mixed with torsen oil and it used to cure problem comletelly. Unfortunatelly that additive is highly toxic and taken out of market. Hence its still sold in Europe and apprently cures problem 100%.
Its only to find now who is having this magic product???
Good luck sweets and sorry for spelings.
