kudos man......very handy. I know you answered some questions I have had but never had the where with all to look up.
#4
can someone please post where i look to find out how to change the differential fluid please????
#5
i nominate this for a sticky

Thanks for the post hiwords!
Stickied to the top.

Thanks for the taking the time to put this together man.

Only one change that I see - the spark plug gap on the 30v, which is listed as .063", should be .032" - at .063" the engine won't even start (found that out yesterday when I did my plugs). Great reference post to have stickied - there's a wealth of handy answers in there.

Don't know if it's something weird with my car or what, but my 1.8T takes 3.8 quarts of oil to fill to max. If I put 4.3 quarts in my car I'd be WAAAY overfull. My owner's manual says it should take 4 quarts, and the Chilton says 4.3 as well, but even at an even 4 quarts my car'd be overfull.

Hate to throw a wrench in this, but...
I don't know about 2.8's, but the oil viscosity for 1.8T is 5w40 or 5w30. The fill capacity for the 1.8T is going to be different because of the revised/ recommended huge oil filter.
NGK BKR7E is suitable for chipped 1.8T. It's a step cooler than 6E and can make sense to use at least during summer months if you are running anywhere near 20psi.
Hiwords- I merged this thread with the modifications and maint. sticky because I think they should be together. Hope you don't mind.
