Default Dead Battery temporary fix (broken window)

My 2004 Audi cabriolet 3.0 got its passenger front window broken, and the battery (which was new) started dying. Even after the window was replaced, and I got a professional 2 hour charge, the thing would not start if parked overnight.

I took it to an independent mechanic, who wanted way to much $$$ just to diagnose it, so I got a simple battery switch for $24.95 at amazon, and I lift it up when I want to park, and I push it down when I want to start, and it's fine (I can actully park for at least 2 hours with it down right now).

I posted the info in an album: AudiForums.com - userzweig's Albums

It's a WirthCo Battery Doctor product.

Anyhow, that's my contribution to anyone who has this problem. They also have a key fob remote controlled model for $135, but it's back ordered.

It sure feels good to be able to use my car again!

Meanwhile, if anyone has insight about why a broken passenger window would cause the battery to discharge when parked (5 amps for 10 seconds every 40 seconds), please let me know.

Thanks,

Bruce

Is the glass broken or just the switch? If the latter, I would try disconnecting the window motor wire.
