Default Got a sweet deal on a v10t, hope it fits!

Hey all!
So I'm starting my first Audi project (I hope). The throwout bearing in my 85 GTC began screaming at me last week and it finally got to the point i could smell the thing cooking. After ordering the clutch kit for it I found an 87 5000 QT wagon and I picked up the complete engine, turbo, computer, and intercooler from it. I couldt pass up the deal (125$ including core)!
So now I'm here hoping and praying that someone here can tell me whether or not it should fit and where I might find a well documented 'How-to' on the engine swap.

Also, i have a side question, I tried numerous VIN decoders and cant seem to figure out what the engine digit (5th digit) of D means, anyone know? my audi book does not have a Doption for the 5th digit, just A, A, B, and C.

Thanks!

Do you really mean GTC? And you do know the 87 5000 CS QT is not a v10?

Lol oops, I meant a 10v turbo not a v10t. at least i'm assuming by the year that it is a 10v. I know it came out of an '87 CS Turbo quattro wagon. My car is an '85 Coupe GT, so i guess i meant CGT not GTC (Dyslexia flaring up). I am really hoping it is a compatible swap, if anyone has some insight into it I would greatly appreciate it.

Make sure you can mount it, if not get the mounts, to find out if it can mount is another mystery I dont know how lol and you got a 1985 Audi 4000 Coupe GT? If so I know you wont have to do much swapping.

its simply a matter of taking out the old motor and tranny and putting in the new one.
they put 10vt's onto the Urquattro's which is a CGT with quattro and the 10vt really...

it should be a cake walk..

wait. what the hell does that mean?? a cake walk? is that supposed to mean its easy??

oh who cares.

it'll be pretty simple.
if you know how to take out a motor and tranny.

that is a good question.
I wasnt thinking that the CGT is FWD....
the motor and tranny from the CGT.
it was a 5 cylinder and 5 speed right?

if so, it should.

Yes the CGT is FWD, wish it were a quattro =P
and yes the original engine in the CGT is a 5cl with a 5sp manual transmission.
