Default ’85 5000 S T transmission swap question

Set-up: My wifes '85 5000 S Turbo automatic is slipping and shifting lazy. I've been offered a '90 or '91 100 with a 6 month old rebuilt transmission for a very reasonable price. I know that the drive axles are a different diameter but I also know the drive cups can be swapped.

Questions: What problems will I encounter with the shifter mechanism between the three speed and the four speed? Are the any other issues that I'm not aware of?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

The older 5000 3-sp 087 are mechanical shift, the newer 100 4-sp are electronically controlled so you will need more than just trans. The swap might be more trouble than it is worth.

Yep, figured that out and have decided to look for an 087 or jump for the rebuild.

Thanks,
