Audi 80 quattro strut cartridges
Everything has to come off to do that job. And while you're there, you'd be an idiot not to replace the bearing plates.
You remove the strut and then the spring from the strur housing just like a normal strut replacement, and then cuss at it some more to get the cartridge out.

Do you know if you can get just the bearing or should I just buy the whole lower mount...
This would do it right?

I am sure they are shot. I took it to NTB, must be the worst place on the planet to fix cars. I was joking with some lady there getting her car checked as well about how bad they are at telling people about unnecessary repairs. They came back with 1500?+ for new struts. All I really needed was some ball joints. For her she needed some 800 in brakes.
too bad the struts are not like gm. My cousins' car is drop in...
Should I get the bump stop and boot kit as well? I live in the Great White North (Ohio). The ones on the car are not pitted so I figured why get the boot...
Sounds like fun...

If you are doing it alone, then I would just replace whats needed. Might be hard removing the cap that hold the strut insert down.
Bearing plates are subjective, some would keep working, and some would give up.
I whent to a shop, and they replaced my stut inserts for 250 buks including struts.
Mcpherson front suspension is common.
