loose transmission
hey guys, im looking to buy an audi 80, its a 1992 2.3l b4.
its my first car, and my first audi that i have driven. the other manual cars that i have driven, had a tight and firm transmission, but this audi feels a bit loose. i was just wondering if they are all like that, or is it simply just a bit of wear and tear over the years. or is this a big problem. the car changes gears fine, clutch engages nicely, spins wheels when changing form 1st to 2nd gear. could this loose feeling transmission be a problem?
any help is appreaciated.

RE: loose transmission
I wish I'd had your problem on the last stick diesel I had.
The prior owner had no idea how to adjust the linkage, welded the bell crank on top of the tranny. First was not TOO bad, 4th to 5th was a bitch, as well as reverse. My kid never could get it into 5th, and it annoyed her no end, though it is hilly here and 5th was not too useful.
I wouldn't play with it. You're a lucky son of a gun.
Cheers,
George
