Can you be more specific?
I know that regular use of cheaper low grade gas can cause a high end fast pinging during acceleration.
If it's a knocking/clanging could be lifters/rod bearings someting of that nature inside the engine.

Any lights or oil pressure indicators?

You might be detonating under heavy load which is a common indicator of a bad MAF. Have you gotten a Cel? Might want to get scanned for fault codes.

If you have an autozone nearby they will scan it for free. Just make sure to write down the codes if there are any and post them here.

Autozone will scan for free? Interesting! So I can just go in, they'll plug into the car and do a computer diagnostic, getting the same info I'd get if i invested in the cable and software to do it myself?

Nice to know

ya except it can be a pain in the *** to have to make a trip to auto zone sometimes, especially if your car doesnt start for some reason and you want to check for codes. I dont think their code readers can clear codes either, some might, but im sure some dont. For the $30ish you can buy one for on ebay that reads and clears, its a worthwhile investment. VagCom is even better if you refuse to take your car to the stealer or shopfor hardcore troubleshooting/diagnostics.
