Default 2004 2.7T 6 speed transmission problems

OK, long story short. My allroad has 134,000 miles and has been serviced by the book at dealer including 120,000 dealer service and all before that. I purchased it from original owner recently. Needless to say, tons of money has gone into it. The original transmission was replaced by dealer at 83000 miles- owner tried to get dealer assistance on cost-none given. Now at 134,000 the center drive shaft was replaced to fix a noise that two independent Audi shops detected-with new audi parts. Afterwards, the winding noise is still there and they said transmission fluid was low and dealer did not put in a gasket at some point. Claimed it was the dealer mistake that led to the transmission being bad-probably a tooth out-metal shavings found in fluid taken out. I have it in the dealer who says it needs transmission again-this being 50,000 miles later. So two transmissions in 134,000 miles. They are "willing" to foot $2K of a $7K bill -that's it! I have bought 4 Audis from them and have "future orders" if they are produced of 4-5 cars! Anyhow, I am not willing now to put $5K more into it and am trying-but do not expect-get relief from them. Alternative is to drive it until death-it drives fine except for the noise. Any solution out there that costs less??

Thanks very much. PS If dealer doesn't help, I'm very tempted to post his name etc As this is really unacceptable, much as I love Audis-have had 8 of them.

an indy shop should be able to get you a new trans significantly less than $5K (what you would still owe at the dealership with their $2K contribution)

I agree it is probably a losing battle trying to get any kind of additional "relief" from the dealership. do you have other dealership options that are reasonably close? you could always threaten to take your business elsewhere. i don't expect that to help too much but at this point what do you have to lose?

Yes, I have already told them I am going elsewhere for all future Audis and work, if they don't help out more. There is another Audi dealership-but I don't expect much from them either-but will try. I will also try one of the two Indy Audi shops to see. I know someone that works at the one dealer in parts-not sure if he could come up with a discount on tramsmission--- and then how/where to get it put in. I am hesitant on a used one-but if anyone would recommend this ? But, I am definitely going to try everything.

a rebuilt trans should last you more than the life of the car (at 134K miles) assuming that the rebuild and install are performed properly
