Default Allroad 2.7 M/T swap or fix?

Hi,

I use to have the 2.7 auto A6 Sedan, I broke the cambelt while driving at unrecommended speeds home because of a burglary taking place at home at the time.

In the meantime I bought a cheap Allroad with a manual transmission which the guys told me only has an issue with the flywheel/clutch... After finding out that there were many issues, I've luckily had the donor car to supply most of these parts.

In the meantime, I sold the auto gearbox to pay for labor on the allroad. As luck would have it, we removed the gearbox from the allroad and pandora's box was opened. A bearing in the front diff broke and the parts and ***** ended up messing up a whole lot of different parts.

I have yet to know exactly what all broke and damaged. At the moment I am looking for another gearbox.

So here are my questions to you guys,

Do I rebuild the gearbox or look for another one? Here in South Africa, the manual allroads are extremely scarce, so Secondhand parts are near impossible to find.

Are there any other compatible gearboxes on an allroad? - I don't mind even making it a FWD, as long as it drives.

Regards,
Brian
