Dumb question, but where did you see "man"? When I adjust the height in my car, the only thing I see is the blinking green led light that indicates the height is adjusting to that selection. I'm looking at my manual and don't see any other controls or indicators related to the suspension. There are only two buttons and a series of green leds and thats it for my height adjustment controls.
Oh I've got even more dumb questions...

Here's a pic I found online since I don't have the car yet. (though we did just close the deal 2 hours ago via email... $14k 01 60k miles) Woooo! Feelin ok about it since it's in pretty great shape.

So just to the right of your green level lights... you don't have an orange light with "man" vertically orientated underneath it?

Yo, Ungawa;

The flat black roof is only on ARs, because we are all supposed to be real outdoorsy types (oo, ooh, ooooh, RAH). The roof is supposed to hide minor scratches or anything else inflicted by moving outdoorsy equipment (kayaks, bikes) onto and off of the roof. My guess is that it also raises our sperm counts a coupla points.

Buy the car. I love mine.

Well as I mentioned above... it's mine! (almost) Roof... gotcha. All it's going to do for me is emphasize the tree sap baking in the hot sun. Hell most people can't even see the top of the roof! I've been drooling over allroads for years and hadn't noticed til recently.

I don't have the orange light underneath the green ones, but I think it is a manual indicator. They probably just did away with it in subsequent models as it didn't really change how anything worked. My understanding is that if you manually set the car to the lowestsetting, it'll stay there and the self leveling/adjusting won't kick in like it would if the car were set in the 2nd level. To use the highest settings, you'd also have to set them manually as the car wouldn't raise itself to either of those settings on it's own.
However if you manually set the car to anything above level 2, it should lower itself once you exceed a certain speed because the higher settings are intendedforslower pace, more offroad kinda stuffand not city or highway driving.
Think of the first, third and fourth levels as sort of a manual override and the 2nd level as the normal setting.
This is what I remember from my owners manual, but I'll double check it later today to confirm for you.

*grinning ear to ear* I like it... I like it a lot. =) Did the deal today and it's home!

Yea, you're right on target. It does make the car go into 'manual' mode.... but the highest and lowest settings would still be dictated by speed... so what's the point? I did find the 01 manual and it's downright comical when they try to explain it all. Upon closer inspection... I've got a couple minor bulbs out... but the rest is all good. I'm a happy camper. Actually going out for a spin right now. Will get some pics in the daylight!

Mods.. mods... mods... I'm going to dwell on that for a while.

I'd love to see the pics when you get 'em. If you do make any mods, I'd like to know what impact they had on your ride. I'm still thinking of chipping mine, but the damn CPO keeps popping back into my head...haha.

Enjoy your spin! I don't think the description in the '03 manual is any less comical or confusing...with or without the extra orange led.

You're right, Ire-read the manual andthe settings are dictated by speed. On a couple of occasions this year,I've used the manual setting to climb out of the snow after the car was plowed in. Raised it up to level 4 and eased it on out...didn't have to touch a snow shovel...haha.

Yea I think it drops down from highest level at only 20MPH. That seems a bit excessive to me... but hey.
The pics are in!

Oh, and by the way... the car came with another set of real badass snow tires that have barely been used. Got some all-season on there currently. Might try to find some rims for the snow tires so they're easier to swap out.
