With a little luck and several hours of reading snippets of posts in various forums last night along with a LOT of Googling, I finally found some.... good people too.

Audi Parts Superstore has them.

http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/c...roducts_id=474

They have them in limited supply, but they tell me they get shipments of them on a regular basis.

You will also need to get the installation kit:
http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/c...roducts_id=475

CALL before you order them and ask for "Barry" to be sure they have them in stock!

FYI: Because of the limited supply, they will NOT sell directly to a dealership! Only to end users, so if your having the work done at a dealer, you will have to buy the units yourself then ask your Extended Service Plan provider for a reinbursement if you have one.

Whew - That was close, I really wasn't looking forward to having my allroad garaged for 6 months!

PW,

I have been trying to get to this http://www.audipartssuperstore.com website and it appears it is down for the moment. Is there a phone number available ? I just dropped $700 on parts for my allroad at the dealer and I am interested in a better way for sure.

Thanks,

G

Qawdmaru...

Sure thing... yea... it seems their website is down.. it was up an hour ago.

Their number is 866-680-2777.

The part number is
4Z7-616-051-B and is called an Air Spring Bag.

The bag is around $440 and the Install kit was around $34.

It looks like a giant rubber condom!

Well – it is all taken care of.

The wonderful guys at Bommarito Audi (Officially “Audi of West Countyâ€) took great care of me. They installed my replacements air spring bags and did some tranny maintenance while they had the car in the air. Although Audi Inc, wouldn’t deliver replacement bags because they claim a shortage, we found some at the above mentioned reseller. Jeff Whittaker saw too it that everything went well, as well as taking care of the crazy paperwork with my ESP. They gave me an 07’ A4 to drive while they had my allroad in the shop.

Now my allroad is a happy camper standing tall on her new air springs. By the way, the new bags seemed to be a little thicker then the old ones. Now that I know they will crack and leak with age, I’ll be keeping them treated with silicone in the future to keep that from happening.

It never ends though - - today I noticed my information display has a couple of lines of the LED’s that aren’t lighting up, making the letters look weird but still readable, and my “shudder†at a stop is still around. Bummer!

KUDO’S to the guys at Audi of West County, especially to Jeff!

By the way, if you’re in St. Louis, you should check these guys out. They just opened their Audi Dealership this month and could use some help spreading the word. Now we have 3 choices here in St. Louis, of where to get our Audi’s worked on. Jeff was the service manager where I bought my first Audi and has many years experience running the shop. I am quite happy to see him running the shop here. He takes his job very serious and is all about making your customer service experience a good one.

I was wondering how one goes about treating the air bladders with silicone? Any pointers? Is there a kit on the market?

I've had to replace both front air bags as they had tiny cracks and holes. Very hard to see- best to spray with soapy water and set ride height at all levels as holes do not always show up. Bag will leak at folds in the rubber.
My compressor is now barely getting air pressure as it has done alot of running over the past year.
The dealer quoted a fortune for a new one. Does anyone in the States know where I can source a replacement compressor?

You might wanna try www.shokan.com which sells used audi parts, that would be your best bet.

Smile Allroad airspring replacement and compressor

as for the compressor, you may get an original made by Wabco for approx. 725.00 in Canada and approx. 475.00 in US. As for the blaaders, you can get a perfect replacement and better quality at Arnott industries inc.
Hope this help.
