Default Allroad wheel offset/wheel fitment

Being a complete newb at this stuff I have no knowledge about wheel offsets and the use of spacers
anyone who can shed a little light on this and let me know if these wheels would fit my '01 allroad

http://www.modbargains.com/product.a...8RS4StyleWheel

and if they would, would i need spacers and what offset and width should i go with, looking at the 19's

I've been doing some research on this Bigger Rollers, but just looked up some stuff for you (and me/us).

Hartmann makes an RS4 replica that requires spacers. As long as you have the right sized spacers and the wheels have been put on properly, there isn't supposed to be a problem.

An on-line tech at Hartmann shared some interesting information with me, though. Because of the new S5, it seems that some wheels with the proper offset for ARs (at least my year, '04) will be available in about six months. I wasn't going to be springing for new rims for a little while anyway. Besides, there's always something else to spend money on, like a chip or exhaust mods.

In fact, I'll probably wait for these tires to wear out before I go for wheels and tires at the same time.

I hope this has been a help to you.

Cheers,

john

It might be obvious, but I'd say fire off an email to the company to see if spacers are required with the width you want and ask what the offset is for that wheel. Most of the wheels I've looked at for the AR require spacers (seems like very few don't) and were 8.5" maximum width, but that's not to say you can't fit a wider wheel depending upon the wheel design.

so i sent off an email and the wheels are a +38 offset and the allroad seems to be a +25,
so he suggested a 12mm spacer. anyone have experience with spacers, anything i need
to look out for, or any problems? Ive heard a lot about people being worried about the wheels
coming off. Valid concern?

Well, I've not heard about anything as serious as the wheels coming off when using spacers, but vibration can certainly be a real concern. You just have to realize it's just one more thing that needs to be installed / balanced perfectly on the hub. One wheel / tire specialist I spoke to about this very issue told me the AR is particularly susceptible to vibration with spacers, but didn't elaborate beyond saying "just make sure you get a quality spacer if you go that route". Personally, after hearing about the issues other owners had to endure, I didn't want to risk it and found a wheel I liked that was a direct fit without spacers.

fischgrape let me know if you find anything about the s5 offset, its interesting that they would be similar
and ive got a few custom alignment places in the area so hopefully if i go
with the spacers, i can do it correctly. im a little worried about the comment of ar's being
susceptible to vibration though
its good knowing that ar guys are getting performance oriented though...

I read all night here but found no answer:

WHAT is the recommended offset for 19" on an AR?

I am thinking (replica) RS wheels - but since they come in various offsets - which one is the one I want?

Email the guys at hartmannwheels.com. They can give you the info on offset and spacers needed for any of their replica wheels. (check out the photos of the RS4 19s on an allroad)
