Buying Wheels for the AR: Your thoughts?
Hi, folks.
I plan to purchase new wheels for my 2005 AR 6-spd manual.
Which of my final two favorite wheels do you like best? Harmann or Rotiform?
My car is painted polar white, and the original owner painted the stock 17s polar white to match. It shocked me when I first saw the car; now I like it and will likely paint any wheels I purchase the same color.
NOTE: I love the idea of having auxiliary 16” wheels for narrow, high-wall snow/off-road tires. However, I recently purchased RS6 8-piston calipers and really don't need the ruggedness of this option. With that in mind, I'm going sporty with 19”x8.5" wheels. Finally, I do NOT plan on dropping the car more than 10mm, if at all.
OPTION #1: Hartmann HRS6-204-GS (high gloss)
• Example 1: Audi C5 allroad on 19 inch Hartmann HRS6-204-GS wheels
• Example 2: Audi C5 RS6 on 19 inch Hartmann HRS6-204-GS wheels
OPTION #2: Hartmann HRS6-204-MA (matt finish)
• Example 1: Audi B8 allroad on 20 inch ET40 Hartmann HRS6-204-MA wheels
• Example 2: Audi B8 A4 Avant on 20 inch ET40 Hartmann HRS6-204-MA wheels
OPTION #3: Rotiform Nue (examples)

If you are agonizing over sheels, wait until you have to select tires! With your black bumpers and wheel arches I would go for #2. My '04 ar is all atlas gray and I went with a 19" "hyper black" wheel that matches the paint. Best part is 19" really updates the car. I also chose comfort and price over performance with 255/40R-19 Pirelli Scorpion Verdes at tire rack on sale. They are all season and quiet at an amazing price. I'd definitely do it again.
