Default CV Boot replacement control arm issues

So I followed an Allroad specific CV boot replacement DIY and everything has gone fine until trying to get the two upper control arms back in. I can't hold the knuckle close enough to get the control arms seated. Am I missing something, is there a trick anyone has for doing this? Any help would be highly appreciated so I can drive once again.

I think you could use the cars weight to preload the springs.. But then again I don't have an Allroad, I have Avant. Is the ride height system set to upper position? Don't know, just throwing it out there. Good luck
