Chef,

Sounds about right, auto or manual? I am getting about 21 with my manual in town or out...Taking a long road trip from Denver to NY next week so looking forward to seeing if mileage will improve. I get about 330 to a tank, filled with around 16+ gallons.

Anyone know if chipping helps gas mileage??

I'm getting 14mpg in suburban driving in a 4.2. I'm surprised to hear that anyone is getting much better.

if you have chipped, you tend to drive harder but if you drive same, then milage is same. mine is at 20.5 for a 02 2.7 six speed. And i usually give it hell every once in a while! 18-23 is normal.

My '03 2.7T is chipped and I get on average about 19.8 mpg with the APR 93 octane chip. A tank gets between 300 and 340 miles to it depending on type of driving.

My mileage seems to be really horrible. I'm not even talking about the readout on the dash... I'm talking about the fact that I doubt I could get 300 miles on one full tank. For the most part I drive semi-conservatively. Mix of 55mph speeds and stop/go traffic. I haven't gotten the tank so low that the warning goes off.

What's the most common culprit of poor mileage? (aside from tires) I'm at 60k so I can believe that my oxygen sensors and mass air sensors might be due. This hurts a bit coming from a 1.8t Jetta.

On a recent road trip, I filled up the tank then reset the mileage and clocked just over 350 miles 95% of it was highway miles. I haven't been able to get an accurate read on city/suburb driving, but it's a lot lower. I think its just the heft of the car and 2.7 takes a lot of gas lugging it all around in stop and go conditions.
