Default THINKING OF GETTING AN ALLROAD.

Well, I'm looking at one in Chicago. I really love this car. Looks and Capability. I am going to look at the car this weekend. Is there anything I need to know or look for. I'm new to the Audi vehicles. Currently I'm driving an 02 Acura RSX Type S. And what are the Pros and Cons of the Allroad. Any input or feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I have had mine for just a week now and I love it. I was going to look at a few in Chicago, but found one closer to Detroit... Look at Autotrader, ebay, cars.com etc., there's plenty to chose from in Chicago.

From what i heard/researched (please correct me if I am wrong), the earlier years '01/'02 may have transmission issues and the '04 models are supposed to have the torque converter problem solved. That's why I opted for an '04. But those issue were pretty rare.

Main things to look for are if the airsprings are in good condition, no leaks, I believe upper control arms or so should be looked at as well as CV joint boots (torn?)

Maybe somebody else could add more...

I recently purchased a 2003 CPO Allroad and I love it so far. The gas milage on it isn't so great, but I was aware of that when I purchased it.I also own a 2006 A4 2.0T and the difference between the two in terms of gas milage is night andday.
There's a lot of technology going on in the allroads and I've heard the air suspensions can be problematic once some miles get packed on.

con: allroad (or Audi / VW) seems to want TLC ( + $$). I bought a CPO 1 yr ago at 27k mi and put 5k so far. truck-open button (plastic) broke; heater fan begins to make noise (mechanical); heard LEDs on instrument panel go off in 6-7 yrs (maybe typical VW electrical problem?). My 19yr old & 6 yr old honda don't have any of these.. am prepared to deal with lots of failures.
pro: safety (collision & rollover), awd, comfort, quiet, offroad capability.
