Default Tire recommendations

Tire recommendations for Allroad? I live in Boston and do expect to do some driving in the snow this year. Any of you guys drive all seasons during the snow, or do you swith 'em out for something else in winter months?
What are you driving on and how are they working for you? What kind of conditions are you driving in?

Thanks for any input!

I'm also in Mass and have used Hankook all seasons for the past 2 years. I'm on my second set.

I have Micherin Xice (high rating by Consumer Report, but I also have a high opinion on Bridgestone too). Generally snow tires reduce braking distance by more than half on snow. But my friend's A6 on allseason tires seems to brake well on snow with ABS (no ESP). I decided to go for snow tires because by spending about $700 on four, if I can avoid collision, I would save a lot more (in injury and money). You might also want to consider buying wheels as well to save hassle of mount/unmount.

Blizzak WS-50s on my 4.2 seem to handle anything. I can't go anywhere without negotiating some serious hills and the local township plows put huge snow mounds in front of my driveway. I just switch the suspension height to the top and push through the worst. Running the summer tires, in snow, isn't a realisticoption. I wasn't able to find inexpensive steel wheels that would fit a 4.2, so went to tirerack for a package. I figured that being able to get to work during two bad days would more than pay for the package.

Here in NE Ohio where we get lots of lake effect snow, I run BFG ATs on steel Audi wheels in the winter. These may betruck tires but there is very little chance of my getting stuck.

I'm in SE PA I'd like to use the BFG ATs, but I can't find the rims for them, so I'm using the Falken 512 all-seasons for now. Not much snow yet, but when it does come it turns to ice and sticks around for weeks, since the city doesn't plow or salt.
