I met with my family friend today at the Mission Viejo Audi dealer today who happens to be the Operations manager. We were talking audi's while walking around the shop and got onto A3's and he mentioned they just finished developing a 7-speed DSG that will come attached with quattro... which will then be slapped into an A3. Time period? 2010 but the guys were saying they could see it sooner.

Thought this was some nice inside scoop to share!

 

It's actually released, or very soon to be, but it's for the small Euro motors. Uses dry clutches, and isn't designed for anything as strong as our 2.0T's

 

I think it was the transverse positioning of the motor they were having issues with.
