I am looking to buy either a 2007 or 2008 A3. I know the 2007 radio cannot read mp3 cds, and the ipod connectivity via navigation system only allows you to view 5 folders. The Audi website says the audio package on the 2008 has "mp3 capability". Does that also mean that the ipod connection with the navigation system will allow you to view the ipod menus on the navigation screen and allow full control?

Yeah we USA 2007 A3 owners who ordered the audio option got stuck with Symphony II radios rather then Symphony II+ with MP3 abilities after web site mentioned mp3 capability. Can't trust the Audi USA web site, or the sale reps on this subject.
But then we also got Sirius radios that stay in demo mode forever unless activated, so at least we got something!

Maybe for 2008 the Symphony II+ will be available for USA A3 buyers?

 

John is right. Don't trust the Audi website. Even more, don't trust anything Audi makes for the iPod 'compatibility'.

Yes, we all know that to us compatibility means to see the song titles, and menu controls on our radio/nav display. To Audi, compatibility means to make sound come out your speakers from the little digital music thingy. And at a not so affordable price.

I have Nav in my 2007 and I really love having the MP3s on an SD card. It shows the song titles. CD's do not show titles. I won't even bother with my iPod. I just convert all my songs in iTunes to MP3s.

 

aftermarket bluetooth can use the steering wheel button too, check out that NAVplus site.

real question I have is when will the NAV be touch screen, very frustrating
