Angry 2009 Audi A3 Leaking Coolant at 55K

Hi all,

Just looking for some advice from fellow A3 owners. I was driving yesterday and the oil light came on telling me that I have low oil. I took it to my local mechanic and had the oil changed, but the mechanic said I need to check it frequently over the next few weeks as it has been burning oil. They also found coolant leaking and that I need a new water pump. Mind you, no warning signs or alarms came on about the coolant. I I have not had this car a year (bought it used) and now I am having to shell out 700 for a water pump which seems highly abnormal to me. I should also mention that when I bought this car I spent the first few months diagnosing a clunking engine that would jolt when coming to a stop. 2 parts later the problems seems to be fixed. My question is what is causing this and is this the beginning of more money coming out of my pocket in the future? Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Owner of Lil Red
