Default 2010 A3 Acceleration Hesitation

New owner here, 2010 A3 2.0T DSG, purchased this week. Low mileage at 17k. I seem to have a pretty bad hesitation on acceleration from a stop. Searched the forums and came up with a few questions but nothing since 2008. Anyone else familiar with this problem on later models? It's worst when engine is cold, but still minor signs of it after warmed up.

Maybe the DSG? Are you expecting it to behave like a slushbox? It actually behaves like a stick shift. If you know how to launch a car with stick shift in respect to how to apply the throttle, then it would drive fine.

I've driven sticks all my life, but I'm not sure what you mean by launching with a stick shift? Are you talking about popping the clutch after you've got the revs up? I haven't driven it with the DSG in the manual mode yet, but will see how that works.

when you drive a stick, you feather the throttle and clutch until you feel it is engaged, then you can go go harder on the throttle, but realizing the engine is fully coupled with the wheel, any sudden change in throttle will result in jerkiness like in a stick shift car.

Now since you don't have control of the clutch, you just have to play with the throttle based on the feel of what the car is doing with the clutch.

Thanks LWNY,
I think I've narrowed it down to turbo lag. It's only apparent when going from stop, or if you step on it while your still at a low speed. It takes a split second for the turbo to kick in. Under normal circumstances and speed, there's no problem.
