A3 3.2 Quattro
Hey Guys,
I'm new here and I am seriously considering purchasing a new to me Audi A3 Quattro with the 3.2 V6. I was curious if there was anything in particular that I need to be aware of or check on. Character flaws or the like with this particular model. Or if it would be better for me to consider a different car. Any wisdom you could share with me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

I don't think there were much change to the A3 3.2 quattro through its lifetime here in the US. There is nothing specific to this model that one has to look out for, but for general A3 that also affect the 3.2 is that the 2007+ models might be in a DSG mechatronic recall, which involves switching out the transmission's control unit, which also includes extending the warranty of the transmission to 100k/10yr. Other misc things might be AC compression might go prematurely, seat bolster might crack on sport seats and sunroof latch breaking. But if a car has those problems, it usually occurs in the first few years.

Just bought a 2007 A3 3.2 Q. Coming from an A4 3.2 Q of similar vintage. It's great. There are moments where you step back and say... "yep, I bought a golf". These include the lack of a full spare tire, the manual passenger seat adjustments, etc. Over all though, its an amazing machine. I've fallen in love with the DSG transmission, the loud and wonderfully melodious steep angle V6 and the open sky system.
Know what you're getting into. This car is special. The mileage is s&#t, the transmission requires some special operation (engage the parking break before putting it in park, teaching it your driving style after calibration) and it has less space for people and cargo than an A4 at very nearly the same price. I think it's nicer looking and it's definitely more fun to drive.

People keeps thinking the A3 is a glorified GTI (especially the FWD version), but they only share a common platform (as in many car designs today) and Audi goes in their own direction after that. Of course, given that most of the transverse drivetrain resides in VW's inventory, they had to pick from there. Audi is not a 'brand' that VW just throws a logo on like Lexus or Infiniti, but an actual subsidiary where R&D and everything else is separate.

It's an Audi ! not a VW
Sure they share some mechanical parts, but Audi interior is way above VW interior, now the GTI is not comparison to the A3 3.2, if someone wants to compare, that would be the VW R32 that does share the same engine and transmission, but the engine/transmission tunning might be different, the A3 3.2 shares the same engine/transmission specs as the TT 3.2, the R32 is a little bit detunned. The 3.2 suspension is also more sporty, not sure that got change with recent models though. It is up to you to pick raw power vs turbo power, with turbo you might have more aftermarket options to increase the power. Now, most would drive a 2.0T and only a few a 3.2, I prefer to be part of the few and also knowing that my A3 has more power and more sporty handling even than the new 2.0T A4s.

Audi A3 2007 3.2l performance exhaust
I have an Audi A3 2007 with the v6 3.2l and I’m trying to find the right exhaust and I have no idea what I’m doing, I’ve been looking at the magma flows. I’m trying to get an exhaust that has the best performance. Engine is stock for now, what should I look at?
