Looking for some advice. have a 2001 A3 1.8 (not turbo), just bought and regret it already! I didn't check ti carefully enough.
Anyway, it is lacking power, slightly rough and uncertain in gear shifts. Major oil burning. It is a very high mileage car so no real surprises.
The car is not worth spending any unnecessary money on. Ive unplugged the MAF and it makes things worse at idel, so I assume that is working. The oil cap is leaking and when I pull the coils ALL of them are full of oil. Have cleaned that up, so now looking at the PCV system and the gaskets. Does anyone have a schematic of the PCV system and where the valve is - I can only find 1.8T versions? Also is there a thread about changing the valve cover gasket - and is there a sure fire way fo knowing that this is the problem - hard to believe a leak from a cap woudl get into all 4 coils?
