I am struggling with my A3 burning excessive oil.

I would like to poll other owners and ask what are their current oil consumption rates. If you could, please reply with the year, engine, mileageand miles (or Km) per Qt.

I'll start with mine: 2006, 2.0T, 25000 miles, 1750 miles/qt.

 

I have 33K on my A3, purchased as a CPO with 25K, so my oil consumption data is still sparse. It had an oil change at 23K, and I changed it (using Mobil 1 0W-40) 5K later. I plan to do oil and filter changes every 5K.

So far it looks like about 2500-3000 miles/qt. No idea what the consumption was before my ownership.

 

2006, 2.0T, 37000 miles,4000 miles/qt.

 

'06 2.0T 33000 miles 1qt/2500 miles

 

i think its depending on your driving habbit.
if you do a lot of stop and go driving. like LA trafic here [:@]
2500-3000/qrt

 

2006 A3 sport dsg 65,000 miles

has been pretty consistant 3,000 miles per quart

 

2007, 2.0T, 25000 miles, 4000-5000 per quart

 

2006 -2.0T- 6MT - 17700 miles. Half quart between the 5K and 15K change. Not much really.

 

I drove 7500KM before the the service and didn't add a drop of oil. I asked them at the service and they said the oil use was 'normal' So unsure, but in terms of me having to add oil to keep in 'normal', I have used none. But then again...I drive a TDI...so by definition almost, it is an "oil burner" !!

 

When I was using 5w-30 it was around 1qt. every 5k miles.

now I am using 5W40 so we will see what the diff is.
