A3 quattro on dry
Hi,
I am considering getting an A3 sportback with Quattro. I was wondering how much of a difference does the Quattro make to the handling on ordinary dry surfaces? How would it compare to handling of the rear wheel drive of BMW 1 series for example ?
Thanks a lot,
Charles.

tad bit of oversteer, but you'll notice more that the car has such emence grip you have a hard time getting it to break loose.
there is a top gear eps where they put a r32 4motion golf against a bmw 1 series... golf won...

Quattro is fantastic in the snow--good with the stock all-season tires, much better with dedicated snow tires. As for dry handling, the stock P6's are a genuine handicap. Performance tires are a must in good weather. With Quattro, it's pretty difficult to get the car to rotate with either stock or performance rubber.
I live in the Rockies, so Quattro was a necessity for me. If I lived in the sunbelt, rear-wheel drive would be my first choice (a 3-series Bimmer probably).
