A3 tdi mpg
Hi,
I've searched the site for help with this but haven't found any topics.
I have a 57 plate 2.0l tdi S-line 170 with the S tronic gear box. I have also got Bluefin on it.
What I am trying to find out is the normal MPG and miles per tank |I should expect.
I am currently getting 400 miles max out of it with mostly townish driving, not exactly stop start but not constant moving either.
The computor thingy says Im getting between 38 & 41 mpg under these conditions which I feel is fair but when I go on the motorway and cruise at 70mph it says im getting 43 mpg max, surely it should be higher than that?
My last car was a Mondeo ST TDCI and I used to get 38-44 mpg round town and could sit at 85mpg all day long and and it would stick between 57-59 mpg! ( did a trip to Norfolk once and managed to get 650 miles covered with 56 left in the tank before I filled up! )
The mondeo had be modified though with a custom exhaust & decat, airtech intercooler and a remap. ( 192bhp with 380ft lb tourque )
I'm just concerned as I would expect better MPG from the audi as the engine design is newer than the Mondeo and its a smaller car.
Can anyone offer me advice?

Looks like you're in the UK and I'm in the USA, so there might be a difference between imperial and USA quantities & measurements, but I can easily get 550 mpg in my 2011 2.0 TDi A3. More if it is all freeway driving.
BTW, I'm just hitting 5,000 miles - how far are you into the break-in period?
On other cars I've seen jumps in mpg around 20,000miles so I'm looking for this number to improve.
Here I've gone 487.7 miles and have a range of 105 miles remaining

Mine is a 2007 plate and has 39000 on the clock
it seems as though there are a lot of people over here that have found the same issues with there cars too
think I need to take it for a long run and see how it compares?
