A3 vs A4...difference is about 5-7k for the same options. FWD vs. FWD. To me the A4 just isnt worth it. the back seat is bigger, but thats about the only benefit i can think of for the A4. I agree 100% with chef that the A3 has a classier design, but thats just a personal opinion. I just dont see what value the A4 has over the A3, besides the 'status' of driving a 'higher end' car. 2.0T + quattro trumps what the A3 offers, but if you dont take the quattro, there's little to be had from the A4 that the A3 can't give you. Not to say the A4 is a bad car in any way whatsoever, just more expensive.

 

My A3 is the 3.2 with quattro, and I love it. Is there something about the 2.0 that I'm missing? I've only driven mine, so please forgive my ignorance.

 

If your used to the 3.2 V6 you notice you get peppy performance when you give it some gas and rev it, the 2.0T is a turbo engine that has minimal turbo lag and at around 2000 rpm when you give some gas takes off like a rocket. Stock A3 2.0T is slightly slower then the A3 3.2 V6 on the 0 - 100 km/h (5.9 sec's versus 6.7 secs) but can be reprogrammed to equal the V6 HP output handily. What is interesting is that when you chip a 2.0T your mileage doesn't get worse. The 3.2 V6 gets 21/29 MPG (EPA) and the 2.0T gets 25/32 MPG (EPA). A lot of people would love to see Audi bring out a A3 2.0T DSG Quattro! So far it is only available in Europe in manual only.

I think you will have to drive a 2.0T versus 3.2 V6 to see how they compare.

I was going to get a 2004 A4Ultra Sport 3.2 quattro6 speed and enjoyed the ride. I drove an A3 and fell in love. The handling and the power was amazing and I was really impressed. I drove anopensky model andloved that feature.last night was the first night I actually just sat in thecar and looked at the stars with the lady friend. Awesome feature.Not to fond of the A4 anymore. RS4 is to sexy though I would cop one of those. Near Future.
