A3 wheel specs
Anybody know the wheel specs for an 2008 A3 S-line?
Offset? Backspacing? Bolt pattern?
I'm changing out my stock 225R45/17 and Audi wheels to a minus-one for winter tires. So winter tires would be 205R55/16. But I need the specs for a 16 wheel. I'm looking to buying online to save a bit.
(I guess I could probably remove one wheel and check but thought someone here might know...)

since we're on this thread of winter rims, maybe i can get some help with my question. i just picked up some 16" steel rims, what's the specific lugs(wheel bolts) that i need to get to accommodate the steel rims?
thanks way in advance!

New to this thread and the forum, just found it tonight by a web search. I have 2008 A3 2.0 S line with 18" Titantium wheels which I am not going to subject to CO's winter mag chloride dousing. So today I picked up four S4 Avus 17 X7.5 wheels with one season old Blizzacks WS-50s for $400, thank you craiglist. The hole spacing is correct but I did not check or know offset of the Avus wheels. I am going to have the wheels refinished in satin black, it should look pretty tight. I think I will be ok, anybody think otherwise? This will be my first CO winter in a front wheel drive Audi, as I have been living the quattro life for 13 years now (200TQ and urS6). Wish me luck!
I have a follow-up question to my original post. My new wheel set is on its way and I'm going out to get a torque wrench. Never used one before, certainly not on wheel lug nuts. So, what is the recommended torque setting for A3 wheels?
To tiptronic, congrats, those LED headlights look dope. The stock 17" wheels on my A3 2.0T S-line also look like you described: fronts are flush to bodywork while rears are "sucked in".

Well today I got my 17" S4 AVUS wheels on my A3. I am mulling over whether the wheels work with the car visually. Boy I thought the OEM Conti tires were noisy, these Blizzaks are worst, they make my A3 sound like I like the car is a blender grinding pebbles. Here are two shots, before with 18" titanium wheels and the second with power coated, black AVUS wheels. Let me know what you guys think. YMMV.

Honestly, although the Avus does not look bad, I like the original wheels better. Are those OEM?
I'm the OP of this thread, and your post reminded me to take a pic of my new wheels with winter tires. I just bought cheap-o wheels with Dunlop Sport 3D from Tire Rack, thinking anything is better than boring winter steelies on my A3! Will post later, still have to put them on...

Not meaning to hjack your thread a3driver. Yes the 18" wheels are OEM titanium package option on my 2008.5 A3 Sline. I needed winter wheels and the 17 " AVUS S4 wheels were my ticket. The car has an overall black out theme with the titanium package, trim and I added the black window tint. That is why I went with painting the AVUS wheels black rather than the original silver. I do like the original wheels better (and they are lighter) but winter is around the corner here in Colorado and snow tires are a necessity. I did not want to give a monkey lad tire changer a chance to bugger up the OEM 18s by putting on snow tires on them. YMMV

No problem, hijack away!! My original question was already answered by many people both off and on this thread. The real test is when I put the new wheels on. By the way, I like that color on the A3. Lots of curb appeal. Mine is the regular white, like tiptronic's above.
My suggestion on when to put your winter tires on is after the first storm that actually keeps snow/slush on the ground and the temps at night are consistantly in the freezing zone. I have summer tires and thats when I make the change. That way I dont run into that problem of having the LOUD tire sound of winter tires on the warm roads plus the tires last longer that way.
