Manual says 90 lb-ft. But you may want to use a little higher if your bolts have previously been overtorqued.

This is a fantastic source of information.
I am a new A3 owner (not new, 1998 model) and a new member to this forum.
I have ordered a set of bilstein springs and schocks to lower my vehicle by 40mm (ish). I have standard 16" (205 55 tires) wheels and I would like to know if the springs can be fitted before new wheels. Are there any measurements i can take to see if this is possible?

Default 16" 5 x 112 rims

I am thinking of minus sizing to save money for snow tires for the A3. (205 55 R16)

Will a 16 X 6 1/2 5 - 115 rim work?

Go to Tirerack.com and they will have the correct size for going down to 16's for snow tires that is what I did but I bought them from there too. It is free to find out proper size on there site.
