Default Aircon not cold

Hi

My A3 climate control isn't chilling. I assume it needed a re-gas. Took it to KiwkFit who re-gassed it but no better. They didn't charge since they garantee a 10% improvement.
Any ideas what might be the problem? I have a VAG-COM lead and I also know how to access the diagnostic display. I don't really know what to look for though.

Thanks

I had the same problem in my a3. I went to the service and they fixed it in less than 2 minutes. They told me that something was unplugged under the hood in the wiring since earlier that month I had problems with the alternator and probably they just forgot to plug that back in.

I just posted about the same problem. The ac compressor might be busted - Audi wouldn't cover mine. Good luck - it's a defective part. Audi is a POS

Hi chaps,

May be a stupid question but is the econ button lit on the climate control console? If it is thats your problem, the econ button turns the air con on and off effectively depending if you wanna save fuel or not.

If its not that its a re-gas or compressor issue. I love the generic phrase from the garage " Something was unplugged under the hood", to me basically means they have done sod all

Hi Stevemcol

I had the same problem with my A3 when i bought the car second hand about 2 years ago..The A/C was blowing - but only warm air... I tried regassing, checking the electrics.. had the temperature sensor replaced..but nothing worked.. eventually i was able to get it back to the garage i bought it from and they managed to fix it.. from what i recall it was a mechanical issue (as opposed to electrical).. ..below is the name of the garage i purchased the car from.. they seemed to know what the problem was straight away.. even if you cant get the car to them to get it fixed, if you explain the problem they might be able to advise..

Hope it helps

Hi
It sounds like your compressor. There is a control valve in the back which you may be able to replace. This is a big problem on your model and Audi have since ditched that model of compressor.

I have an 06. Took it to the dealer who was able to get it back in to specs, but they told me the compressor was on it's way out and would have to be replaced soon. Glad the summer heat is almost gone...

VAG have now replaced the compressor on there newer models due to the problems they have had with these units.
