Hello,

I'm having a reoccuring problem with my A3. The ASR light keeps on coming on and staying on and only goes when I restart the engine. However, this is a secondary issue with the main problem being the car cutting out with very sudden losses in power and the power assisted steering becoming very heavy. I've taken the car into the local Bosch garage and they identified some faults which they claim to have cleared but unfortunately the problem doesn't seem to have gone away.

There is another small problem which maybe tied in with the others and that is a problem of starting the car. Here again I've had the car checked out and have been told that there is nothing wrong apart from a noisy starter motor. I have problems starting the car at least twice a week but can usually get it to work if I leave it for 5 mins.

Can anyone offer any insights into what the problems may be?
